"At the edge of the Itza's well" this is the meaning of the name of the city which is a Mayan word.

The majestic Mayan city that became the most important around the late classic period 600 to 900 AD and then after that during the post classic 990 to 1200 AD when it was abandoned.

The suggested departure is from 6 to 8 am to avoid crowds and the mid-day heat.

The tour lasts from 8 to 10 hours: 5 hours to get there and come back, 2 hours to visit the site with a certiified tour guide, 1 hour swimming in the cenote Selva Maya, 30 minutes in Valladolid to stroll around and do some shopping. Or if you prefer to have lunch there, we will increase our time there to one hour.

Cenotes are the underground rivers we have in the Yucatan peninsula, the world comes from the Mayan word DZONOT (water well). After walking in the mayan site you will enjoy swiming in one of the best in the region.
